A Note From Jesse

Hi there—Welcome! I’m Jesse, and if there’s one thing that’s been true my whole life, it’s that I’ve always had my hands in something creative. Designing, crafting, making… it’s just part of who I am. But quilting? Quilting was the dream I carried quietly for years, until life finally nudged me toward it.

My love for needlework started when I was about ten. My mom used to cross‑stitch during our “nap time,” and I’d watch her create these beautiful pieces that ended up all over our home. I still remember flipping through her Precious Moments cross‑stitch book and telling myself, one day, I’ll finish every single one of these.

As I got older, my grandmother passed down her DMC thread collection when her eyesight began to fade. She taught me how to paint. She was talented for sure. She knitted and crafted constantly. Our family still treasures the blankets and handmade pieces she left behind. Creativity wasn’t just a hobby in our family—it was a legacy.

But quilting… quilting was the craft that tugged at me the most. My great‑grandmother, great‑aunt, and so many others in our farming family made quilts that felt like stories stitched together. My great‑grandmother also made lace and stuffed animals for every child at Christmas. Christmas mornings at her house were magic—crowded rooms, card games, food everywhere, and the excitement of choosing one of her handmade animals. I still have mine sitting on a shelf in my sewing room. If a new baby was born, she made a piglet just for them. Those traditions left a mark on me: the idea that a handmade gift carries love that lasts.

Fast‑forward to Covid. I walked into a little shop looking for a repair for my son’s blanket, and instead I walked out with a new beginning. I took a leap and started quilting. And once I started, I couldn’t stop.

That leap eventually led to Just Love Swatches—a place where I can share the fabrics, patterns, and notions I love, and hopefully build a community of makers who feel the same spark I did. My hope is that this becomes more than a little shop. I want it to be a place to learn, to connect, to be inspired… a place you come to simply because you just love swatches and the stories they hold.
